I'll start with the good- I enjoyed this story,just the right amount of sweet,sexy alpha yumminess mixed with club business to suit me.I would've preferred that Sophie have a little more backbone when dealing with Axel but it wasn't too bad.I appreciated the fact that there was very little angst,errors or Ott behaviors. My problems with it were simple-if someone "rasped" one more time I'd have lost my mind!The author needs another word or phrase instead of rasped.The fact that Axel slept with someone else during the separation was an issue but not too bad because it wasn't rubbed into my face too much so I got over it aside from these minor issues and Axel acting like a douche sometimes this was a good story that I would recommend to others. I've read the previous books and will continue onto the others in the seriesProduct details

This is a great story, kind of a second-chance romance, of a sort. Sophie & Axel met in the previous book, and we know there's something going on, but we don't really know what. While this can be read as a stand alone, I love this series lots & would recommend reading the first two.
So, the story starts out with Sophie needing to tell Axel something, but before she can, she's forced to leave. We're not sure what sent her running, but we're not in the dark very long. The pacing is very steady - things get resolved quickly & we're on to the next happening. I LOVE this about Megan's writing style. Also, Sophie & Axel communicate - sometimes not well, but again, things are resolved quickly & there isn't a lot of "wallowing."
There is some action, but mostly this is a relationships story. It's about healing and learning to live together and folding ppl into a family. Quick read, and will make a great recovery read, I think. AND I'm excited for the next installment, which will be Piper & Ryker. Yay!! )
Sophie is the half sister of Sal (book 2), she met Axel at her grandfather's funeral. She was living in New York with her parents at the time. Shortly after the funeral she decides she needs a break and drops in on her brother without notice. Since things are happening with the motorcycle club Sal if a part of, Axel is tasked with keeping an eye on Sophie for protection. Sophie is getting threats but doesn't tell anyone, she is scared enough that she disappears without a word to anyone. A year later a member of a motorcycle club friendly to the club Sal and Axel belong to sees Sophie waiting tables in Texas. He gets word to Axel and the fireworks start there.
Sophie had been spending time with her brother when she abruptly left town and no one had a clue where she ran off to. Axel discovers where Sophie is and he wants answers. They had spent one night together but when Sophie arrived in town, Axel had sent mixed messages of what he wanted from her. He had friend zoned her but there was no question he still wanted her.
Finding out Sophie has been hiding a secret, Axel steps in. He will do everything in his power to protect her, but is he a man who can hold on to forever?
Excellent read. Liked Axel, he definitely is torn on what he knows and what he wants to do where Sophie is concerned. The threat to Sophie is intense because you are not sure what will happen to her. Love all the characters in this series, well worth reading.
I enjoy this author. My one complaint would be that there is very little angst here. It seems a little bit odd to me that Sophie was just able to disappear for a year when the club seems connected enough to find out everything about her father. And there was very little drama about Axel finding out about Mad. This couple was just too easy. I think Ms. O'Brien is very talented and I have no issues with her writing voice. I just want a little more punch to the gut sometimes. Makes the HEA that much sweeter. But I would certainly recommend.
Axel's story was very good. This is such a great series.
We met Sophie in her half brother Sals story. From the very beginning there was an instant connection with Sophie and Axel. You just knew there was more to what you were seeing with them. And oh boy, was there more!
This is truly a story of how opposites definitely attract.
Sophie grew up in a very sheltered upper class family. Her parents controlled everything in her life, from her social calendar, what she was and was not allowed to eat, to who she was scheduled to marry.
Axels home life was very different. He grew up to be the protector. Always putting himself between his abusive father and his mother and younger brother. And that's the roll he's taken up with his motorcycle club. He's the one they call to take care of their problems.
When Sophie returns to Axel and the MC, she is definitely in need of someone to protect her. And she has a lot of questions she needs to answer.
This was a really good story. It was very well written, heartbreaking in places. It's hard to understand how awful people can be to each other, especially those closest to you.
I loved seeing the small glimpses of the past couples and seeing where they are at with their relationships. And catching a hint of what's to come in the next book.
This is my favorite book of the series. I knew it’d be good. I loved everything about Axel and Sophie’s story. They both had crazy, sad backgrounds and they both had to overcome parts of that. Their story was fantastic. The book had me hooked from the first chapter. The way they met and then reunited was very entertaining. Axel was a great character. He was strong, fierce and intense. Sophie was perfect. She started out being sheltered and grew into being an independent, strong woman. Her cooking issues had me laughing out loud.
I enjoyed every bit of this book and didn’t want to put it down. Okay, wait, I had one very small dislike. Sophie knew her condition when she showed up to Sal’s and she was drinking beer. Knowingly drinking beer. That part could have been left out.
I am so happy about Jill being brought back into the series after Sophie left Texas. That’s exciting and I can’t wait to read her story.
