The book From the Caves and Jungles of Hindustan describes the travels in India of Blavatsky and her Teacher, whom she named Takhur Gulab-Singh. Though the book was considered a novel, Blavatsky asserted that "the facts and persons that I cited are true. I simply collected to time interval in three-four months the events and cases occurring during several years just like the part of the phenomena that the Teacher has shown".

First, I will read anything written by Helena Blavatsky. This is about her trip to India to visit the ancient temples carved into stone. The trip was taken in the late 1800's with several English people traveling with her. Many of the names of places that she uses have been changed. But there are youtube videos you can watch to see them. As a side note, she mentions how destructive the Musselmen are. Of course these are the ancient Muslim tribes which raped and burned their way across many countries. She talks about Hindu customs, and takes the reader to not-visited-before religious (Hindu) places, while riding on giant elephants, and staying with locals. No photos or anything like that. But a great journey.

fascinating for what it is, a sort of travelogue of India from that era. I was looking for a sort of ripping adventure in the H. Rider Haggard mold. and it may yet prove to be such if I ever get around to finishing it.
I have just been to India and found some of the cultural aspect hard to fathom. This book explains it all and is a fantastic journey. Very enlightening and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to visit or learn more about rural India. I wish I had a map so that I could follow their journey.
As long as you remember the mores of her culture during this era, you will likely enjoy this account of 'Hindostan.'
I felt that most part of this book is an actual reproduction of the author's experiences, save for one or two instances, fuelled by imagination. However, this is a book to be read with an open mind.
I loved this book when I first read it - as a view on mystical India as well as because I just loved Blavatsky in general.
Hard for me to read. Type is very small with cramped spacing. Subject matter sounded interesting, but even with eye glasses I was not able to get through it.
H.P. Blavatsky book From the Caves and Jungles of Hindustan is a very special book it is a pleasant and easy read about her travelling experiences. All stories included into this book are inspired by this writer's passion to enable the reader to see and believe into existence of cosmic forces that have astounding power over our lives and destiny. She is convinced that our thoughts have tremendous power that we tend to ignore instead of attempting to use it for good, and learn how to avoid the impact of evil thoughts. He is angry with certain scientists who believe otherwise if we cannot see it -- it doesn't exist! Today we know how right she was. Look, how many people write books about power of invisible thoughts. I recommend to everyone to read this exciting and passionately written book.
